Lexus' mid-range GS sedan gains a high-performance model for 2016 in the GS F, powered by a 5.0L V8 that puts its 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The GS F joins GS 350 AWD and GS 450h models carried over from 2015, which get new standard LED headlights, an upgraded multimedia interface, and available electronic safety systems.
The GS 350 AWD uses a 3.5L V6 that makes 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, while the hybrid pairs its own 3.5L with an electric motor for a total of 338 hp, though the 257 lb-ft of torque doesn't include the electric motor's contribution. Transmissions are a six-speed automatic in the 350 AWD, and a continuously variable (CVT) automatic in the hybrid.
Fuel consumption estimates are 12.4/9.0 L/100 km (city/highway) for the GS 350 AWD, 8.1/6.9 in the GS 450h and 14.9/9.7 for the GS F.
Standard features in the GS 350 AWD include 18-inch alloy wheels, intelligent keyless entry, heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, backup camera, auto-levelling LED headlights, LED taillights, sunroof, heated leather front seats with 10-way power adjustment, 12-speaker stereo, navigation, Bluetooth, and rain-sensing wipers.
The GS 450h adds a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with woodgrain trim, 18-way ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, 17-speaker stereo, head-up display, the Lexus Safety System ((Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert3 with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beam,15 Dynamic Radar Cruise Control), lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and power-folding side mirrors.
GS F standard kit builds on the GS 450h, but differs in its 19-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, and eight-way heated and ventilated front seats.
Pricing starts at $56,550 for the GS 350 AWD, $75,500 for the 450h, and $95,000 for the GS F.
